The Light Keeps Us Safe, to me, looks and feels like a 3D Inside, which makes it impossible for me to ignore. In The Light Keeps Us Safe, we're trapped under perpetually darkened skies, running across even darker landscapes, where light itself—depending on what kind of light it is—determines our sense of fight or flight. Looks like it's mostly flight, though. Running. Hiding. Running some more.
I like it. It's not hard to imagine that this action-adventure game from Big Robot Ltd. (Sir, You Are Being Hunted, The Signal From Tolva) takes place somewhere on the fringes of the Real World in The Matrix. Robots with red eyes click menacingly and hover after your desperate scrambling to survive. You pack a device that uses light on different wavelengths to reveal or conceal things. Pretty sure you won't be getting a gun to defend yourself; at least there's nothing in this gameplay trailer indicating that to be true.
I've got my eye on this one, though I sure as heck don't want it to have its eye on me.
The Light Keeps Us Safe is going Early Access on Steam on October 11.
