My Brother Rabbit brings the power of imagination on September 21st

Polish developer Artifex Mundi has carved out a niche for itself with hidden object games like Enigmatis and Nightmares from the Deep series. Following the success of those titles, they had an idea that they would like to show gamers what else they were capable of. As a result, they split their team of 150 developers and creative types into smaller teams, and set them to work on self-chosen passion projects.

One of the first projects to emerge from this process is My Brother Rabbit, an adventure game that uses a beautiful yet eerie visual style to convey a story about the power of imagination.

When his younger sister becomes ill and is hospitalized, a boy begins weaving a tale of wonder and mystery to keep her distracted from her situation. While the game begins in a manner that is lighthearted and fun, as the sister’s condition worsens, elements from her real-life situation begin creeping into the edges of the shared world the siblings have created.

Using a combination of hidden object and mini-game gameplay intermingled with adventure elements, Artifex Mundi seems to be taking all three genres to the next level, seeking to bring a story with real emotion and depth to genres that are typically thought of as extremely niche.

Take a look at the trailer above, and you will get a sense of the care that this team has taken in assembling this game. The tone and story line of this game have me invested in seeing how the final product shakes out. Folks that are interested should check out the game’s (rather nice-looking) official website here.

My Brother Rabbit will be available for $14.99 on Nintendo Switch, Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One September 21.
