Swords, sandals, and sorcery converge in Zeus' Battlegrounds

More On: Zeus' Battleground

It is obvious that companies can't just put out any old Fortnite clone and hope to succeed in the highly competitive battleground genre. It has been a lot of fun over the last couple of months watching teams present their "twist" on battleground mechanics. Today's announcement of Industry Games' Zeus' Battlegrounds is one of the more unique forays into the quickly crowding field.

Zeus' Battlegrounds is a free-to-play, 100+ player (what does that mean?) battleground title set in the days of Mount Olympus and Hercules. I scoffed for a brief moment, but then I watch the trailer and my scoff rattled in my throat. Zeus' Battlegrounds looks neat. It turns out that having melee based combat in a unique setting is enough for me to get excited to check this on out. And that bit with the dudes shooting each other from moving carriages, like some cutting-room-floor scene from Spartacus? Yeah, I'm in to check out this beta.

Registering for the beta is as easy as entering your email into a little text field here. No launch date has been announced, but there are several beta tests scheduled over the next couple of weeks, so it seems like the game is already pretty close to done. I'll keep you posted as we hear more.
