From the Ashes is the first major piece of downloadable content for medieval role-playing game Kingdom Come: Deliverance

It opens deep in the forest, on the town of Pribyslawitz, the framework of a building under construction just piercing the treetops, A fire burning nervously close. And you, Henry, singular son of a blacksmith and hero of our ongoing tale, have a new appointment: as the bailiff of Pribyslawitz, to rebuild the town as you see fit.

You're not going to be Minecrafting the town back together. You'll have work crews. Laborers will fell the trees, saw the logs, and split the stones. You'll indicate what goes where, though it looks a bit like you're just refilling in the blanks more than hobbling together a settlement piece by piece. I love it anytime I get to build something in a single-player RPG, but this isn't like building settlements in Fallout 4.

But with great power comes great responsibility, and you'll have to preside as judge over disputes between your newly arriving citizens. You'll add bakers and taverns, etc., until one day you can ride into Pribyslawitz on your bailiff's horse and bask in your wealth.

Warhorse Studios is leaning a little harder into its nationalistic vibe. The music in this trailer sounds like some kind of World War era soundtrack, and the last slide looks like a (beautifully rendered) propaganda piece.

Also, Hardcore Mode is arriving at the same time, perhaps, though Warhorse is still a bit squirrelly with those dates, too. In Hardcore Mode, you don't get to see your health or stamina bars, you lose your You Are Here marker on the map, and you have to take on at least two negative perks—like Brittle Bones, Nightmares, or Claustrophobia—which unlocks an achievement if you finish the game with all perks.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance – From the Ashes is due sometime in July next month for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

New Trailer Teases Upcoming From The Ashes DLC

Larkspur, Calif. – June 26, 2018 – Warhorse Studios today release a Hardcore Mode as a free DLC for all players of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The DLC will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One as well as PC.

The Hardcore Mode turns Kingdom Come: Deliverance into a true survival RPG. No visible health or stamina bar, no more autosaving, plus even more realistic combat and world navigation. Following the sun and studying the detailed world maps will be crucial to navigate through the vast countryside of Bohemia. Are you ready for a truly medieval experience?

Hardcore Mode introduces unusual perks, like Brittle Bones, Nightmares or Claustrophobia to test the player’s skill. The player will have to choose at least two and they will stay with him for the whole game. Finishing the game with all perks will unlock new achievements.

Alongside today’s release Deep Silver and Warhorse Studios also reveal a first glimpse of the upcoming story DLC, From The Ashes, which will release soon.
