Capcom released the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection yesterday and it seems like it has quite a bit of issues. From horrible laggy online play, frequent crashes, and some bizarre UI choices, an ugly cloud is seemingly hanging over Capcoms great collection of Street Fighter games from the past.
The most frequent complaints I have seen are with the fact that the start button on the PS4 opens up the pause menu. So how do you start the actual game? You have to press the touch pad. Problem is that a lot of fight sticks for PS4 dont have the touch pad, so you have to go in and map the start button to something silly like R2. Another issue is the fact that if you dashboard while playing online you will automatically lose connection to the game.
I have the collection on Nintendo Switch and I can say that online is a mess right now. The most ridiculous is the fact that when you play casual matches, there is this weird system that decides what game you will play. Say you want to play Street Fighter 2 Turbo, but your opponent wants to play Third Strike. Well, it randomly decides between the two what game you will play so you could end up getting stuck playing a game you don't want to play, which of course leads to opponents quitting. It's a shame because this is a great collection of historic games that are still fun to play to this day.
Hopefully Capcom fixes this stuff and fact. In the meantime, here is a compilation video from Geoff The Hero on Youtube highlighting just some of the issues in the game so far.
