Indie darling FAR: Lone Sails gets a launch date

by: Randy -
More On: Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime FAR: Lone Sails

FAR: Lone Sails launches in two months. With a dozen student and indie award nominations and wins already under its belt—before it's even hit retail—I think FAR: Lone Sails is primed for a wonderful amount of indie success.

First off, the art style making up FAR's dried-up sea bed of a map makes me wish I could turn any direction in the 2D atmosphere. Plus the sailpunk ("sailpunk"? Can we make sailpunk a thing?) design of your slow-rolling ship shifts from external to internal views, with you manning its lonely Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime cross section floorplan.

Maintaining and upgrading your vehicle. Improvising, adapting, and overcoming numerous obstacles and natural hazards. Follow the trail of your people on the run. A piano jazz soundtrack—not my usual, but nice. All of which happens in a zombie-free post-apocalypse. Ahhhhh. "It's just you and your machine vs. the big nothing." Well, you versus the sea-salt remains of a once vibrant seafaring civilization.

FAR: Lone Sails launches on PC on May 17.
