Call of Duty: WWII is bringing a lot of free content in its Resistance Event starting today, January 23rd, and ending February 27th. While it's not entirely clear if some of these will stay free after the event, or if its just available for a limited time, it's lots of good stuff nonetheless.
First among the bonuses is a free Resistance themed supply drop every week, as well as double XP playlists. While a free supply drop every day would be awesome, what we get is good too.
The biggest addition in the event is the Resistance Division. Divisions are WWII's equivalent to multiplayer classes. The Resistance Division is free for all players starting today. Their weapons combination starts with a pistol and tactical knife, so players will be sneaking around the maps like it's one of the campaign missions from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, or whichever one had that arrangement.
When players complete Special Orders in the time of the event, they can unlock weapons like the Volkssturmgewehr, a machine gun assembled from parts of other weapons. Another unlockable weapon is the Italian Orso submachine gun. The announcer for the trailer states that "not many can tame this beast, but it'll rip your enemies to shreds". Hmm, a part of me wants to think that the developers really put a learning curve on this gun.
Demolition Mode is also back.
