There isn’t a ton of “making-of” information in the new Ni no Kuni II video. Mostly it just brushes over the basics of design, and puts some human faces on the brains behind the series. The reasons given for making the sequel basically boil down to “people liked the first one”.
But holy moley, this thing looks amazing. The animation work on display in this video is top notch, and the world design reveals a level of detail that was not present in the already impressive first game. Take a look at the city design that is shown around the 1:40 mark. LEVEL-5 has really poured a lot of time and energy into making this game feel like a living, breathing anime world.
Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom will release on PS4 and Steam on March 23, 2018.
