Whoa. I don't know if you noticed or not, but people seem to dig Call of Duty. A lot.
This fact became incredibly evident when Call of Duty: WWII raked in over half a billion dollars last weekend. This performance broke all sorts of records, with the game being making more money on opening weekend than the theatrical box office openings of Thor: Ragnarok and Wonder Woman combined. COD; WWII is the best-selling digital full game by units sold on the first day of availability for the PlayStation Store, it has the highest total connected users on current generation consoles and PC out of any COD game, and it sold twice as many copies as last year's Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Taking the franchise back to its real-world roots seems to have paid off. I wonder what the COD team(s) will do next year to try to top this year's installment. The Korean War would be an interesting and timely subject. No matter what, I don't think we will be seeing jetpacks returning to COD any time soon.
