One of the main reasons I am excited for WWE 2K18 is that 2K has completely revamped the Royal Rumble match. I am a Royal Rumble mark. It is my favorite match of all time and I have seen each Rumble match at least 100 times. After watching this video from Youtubers Gore & Perkins, I am very happy.
Ever since I was a kid, I have been waiting for that wrestling game to come along that fully captures the feel of an actual Rumble match. Year after year games come out, and year after year I am left disappointed. The biggest problems with the Rumble matches over the years is most wrestling games only support 4-6 superstars in the ring at one time and that entrants all come out every 15 - 20 seconds or so. After watching some videos of the Rumble match from this years game, I can say that they are close, they are oh so close, but not quite there yet. That said, this looks like the best Royal Rumble mode that has ever been in a wrestling game.
One of the coolest things about this years mode is that you can actually decide how long before each superstar enters in the Rumble. I am not sure the exact times you can choose but I have seen some matches where the full match is about 30 minutes long, but then there is this match where entrants come out every two minutes.
The other cool feature is that there are now many ways to eliminate your opponents and there are new mini games to eliminate superstars as well. With the fact that you can now have 8 superstars in the ring at once, combined with these new animations, this match looks as fast and furious as a real Rumble match does.
