Friday the 13th: The Game got an update today for all systems and with it brought numerous big fixes and the long awaited "Small Map" variations including smaller versions of Higgins Haven, Crystal Lake and Packanack.
I got a chance to play around with the new smaller maps and I have to say they are a lot better than I was expecting. A lot of people thought that these maps would just be one section of the bigger maps. These new maps however are pretty much what they say they are, which is smaller versions of the bigger map. Its like if you squashed and condensed everything from the bigger maps closer together. The other cool thing about these maps are that everything is in different locations. This means that the phone boxes, Tommy Jarvis houses and the paths to escape in a car are a big different as well, which adds a new challenge into the game.
Also included were updates to the intros to the game at the start of each match. The intros for the normal maps remain the same although they look like they were completely reanimated and thus, look a lot smoother. The intros to the smaller maps however are brand new and look fantastic. For instance, the intro to the Higgins Haven small map now has Jason killing a counselor with a throwing knife to the skull as the other counselors run away in fear.
Finally, Gun Media released a new Dev Dairy video showing off some small glimpses of new content coming in the future including a new larger map, swimsuit DLC, a new game mode and new customization options.
