Last year I reviewed Halcyon 6, a Star Trek-inspired scifi RPG that had a little bit of everything: XCOM style base building, JRPG-style turn based combat, 4X-style exploration and a gripping, tongue-in-cheek storyline that referenced some of the best scifi franchises and games. Needless to say I really liked it, but now I might have to head back into the world of Halcyon 6.
Developer Massive Damage has just announced Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition, a revamped, remastered version that streamlines progression, overhauls the UI, tightens up the economy and leveling system for your starbase and officers, and adds 12 parsecs worth of new content. New subclasses, new prestige levels, 25 new combat abilities and combos, and the new Vice Admiral difficulty level for veteran players who really want a challenge.
I thought Halycon 6 was an excellent game on launch that made good on its Kickstarter promises, but there were a few balance issues that kept it from greatness. I'm really happy to hear that Massive Damage has been working with the fan community to address these various issues and produce the best possible version of an already great game. Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition arrives August 10th.
Hailing on all frequencies! The widely praised Halcyon 6 has been reworked, enhanced, and pushed to its limits by Massive Damage Inc. to create Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition; releasing on August 10th!
Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition brings the best version of the Halcyon 6 base game forward, combines it with every improvement released since the original launch, and adds a galactic fleet’s worth of new content to explore.
Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition Announcement Trailer
“The best part of working on Halcyon 6 is our supportive community who loves this game as much as we do! From the streamlined campaign, new officer classes, new powers, new UI, and many quality of life improvements, Halcyon 6: Lightspeed Edition drove us back to the drawing board to look over every aspect of the original game. We couldn't have done it without our fans and that's why we'll be giving all of our existing players a FREE copy of Lightspeed Edition.” said Ken Seto, CEO of Massive Damage
