Killing Floor 2 kicks off its first seasonal event: the Summer Sideshow

More On: Killing Floor 2

One of the best aspects of the original Killing Floor was that developer Tripwire Interactive held seasonal events with exclusive skins, weapons and activities. I was wondering if they were going to do the same thing with Killing Floor 2, and now I have my answer.

The Summer Sideshow is the first official seasonal event and it reintroduces the circus carnival map from the original game. It also tosses in a couple new weapons, including a tactical lever-action rifle that will hopefully fill out the sharpshooter class's rather weak loadout. Rounding out the event are some classic skins for the monsters: Pukey the Clown and the monstrous Monkey Man.

The circus map was one of my favorites from the original game so I'm pretty pleased to see it back in Killing Floor 2. It's been a while since I went ten rounds in KF2 so hopefully I can round up some friends this weekend to check out the Summer Sideshow.

KILLING FLOOR 2’s First Seasonal Event,

The Summer Sideshow, Comes To PS4 Today

Limited-Time Event Gives Players New Skins, a New Map, New Items, and Fun New Ways to Play KILLING FLOOR 2 That Will Even Earn PS4 Gamers Special In-Game Goodies

ROSWELL GA – July 11, 2017 – After a hugely successful debut on PC, KILLING FLOOR 2’s, psycho-circus themed Summer Sideshow event launches on PlayStation 4 today and runs through August 8. KILLING FLOOR 2 received incredible support and massive downloads as one of the top featured free titles on PlayStation Plus in June. Now, back with a clown car full of new content and gameplay, The Summer Sideshow is the first seasonal event for KILLING FLOOR 2 to come to PlayStation 4, and it is totally free to owners of the game. To further entice gamers to jump in and join in the Summer Sideshow, Tripwire Interactive will be slashing the price of the base game with a 50% off sale for the week of July 11 to July 18 on the North American PlayStation Store.

The Summer Sideshow introduces a host of new content to KILLING FLOOR 2 and new ways to play during the one-month course of its event. The centerpiece of that new content is a new circus-themed map, complete with outrageous circus freak zeds that make scary clowns look like cute cuddly puppies. There will be a new set of specific objectives for this map, entitled “The Tragic Kingdom”, which upon completion will unlock the exclusive Sideshow Hazmat Suit (good for keeping clown blood-stained cotton candy from getting stuck to players). The Tragic Kingdom is a scary place, so players will have to make good use of the two new weapons included in the update: the HZ12 Shotgun is for the Support Perk only and the Centerfire Lever Action is primarily for Sharpshooter and Multi-Perk with Gunslinger.

There will be plenty of other cosmetic items to unlock as well; over 50 different items obtainable by earning tickets during normal gameplay that can be exchanged for things like new face paints. There will be some paid cosmetic DLC as well, that players can purchase through the shop.

For more ongoing excitement during the Summer Sideshow event, tune in for the Weekly Outbreak, which will present a brand-new game mode every week for KILLING FLOOR 2 players to enjoy and master. Each Weekly Outbreak mode – from the shrinking Zeds of “Tiny Terror”, to the all Fleshpound action of “Poundemonium” – will bring new unlockable cosmetic items for the players who accomplish each week’s special goal.

Upcoming Weekly Outbreak Schedule:

?        Poundemonium - July 11

?        Up, Up and Decay - July 18

?        Zed Time - July 25

?        Beefcake - August 1

?        Boom - August 8

?        Cranium Cracker - August 15

?        Tiny Terror - August 22

?        Bobble Zed - August 29

In KILLING FLOOR 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech’s failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union— Just one month after the events in the original KILLING FLOOR, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe know survival and self-preservation too well and lucky survivors have gone into hiding.

Not all have given up hope though... A group of civilians and mercenaries have banded together to combat the outbreak and established privately funded operation bases across Europe. Upon tracking specimen clone outbreaks, players will descend into zed-laden hot zones and exterminate them.

KILLING FLOOR 2 is developed by Tripwire Interactive and is published at retail by Deep Silver and Iceberg Interactive for the PlayStation®4 Pro, PlayStation®4, and PC. This title has been rated M by the ESRB, PEGI 18, USK 18.
