If you don't watch the Angry Videogame Nerd, there is a good chance you have no idea what the hell Plumbers Don't Wear Ties, is. Tl;dr version, it was an absolutely atrocious "videogame" that was released on the 3DO back in the 90's. I use the term videogame lightly because unlike other FMV games at the time, Plumbers Don't Wear Ties is like a slide show and this game proudly says it's "like a movie". With a terrible story, terrible "controls", terrible.... everything, Plumbers Don't Wear Ties is often considered one of the worst games of all time. The game was released on the 3DO back in the 90's, but did you know that there was a PC version of the game as well?
No? Well there was and according to PC Gamer, Psychoticgiraffe noticed that there was a listing for the PC version of the game from an old PC Gamer UK review. After some searching, Psychotic found out that a University Library never got rid of their almost now ancient copy. There is a good chance this is one of the last copies of the game in existence. Now with the holy grail of terrible games in his hands, what did he do? Rip the files and upload it to the internet so everyone can experience this abomination of a game for themselves.
Now, I am not here to advocate piracy, but in this case I will because I do believe in emulators and roms being used to preserve videogame history. It may be a crappy game but it deserves to be cataloged and preserved for future generations just like any other game. Plus, I found this to be a pretty amazing story. It's crazy to think that the copy of the game has just been sitting there for years, probably in some old storage box
