You Can Now Play a Somewhat-Unfinished-Version of Pokémon Yellow on your Apple Watch

More On: Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow

At last, hurrah, now you can play Pokémon Yellow on your Apple Watch, courtesy of iOS software developer, Gabriel O’Flaherty-Chan. O'Flaherty-Chan developed an emulator for the GBA classic which he named 'Giovanni,' after the head of Team Rocket. It's still in beta, basically, but probably a cool play (if not for a whole run, maybe to a gym or two?) You can learn more about the project on his blog, where O'Flaherty-Chan goes into his struggles in developing the emulator.

“One of the big challenges was to find the right balance between framerate and performance,” he writes. “As you can see, it’s a bit sluggish and unresponsive, but as a prototype, I think it answers the question of ‘is this possible?’”

It's the first emulator for more complex games on the Apple Watch, but it points to a desire of gaming content on the device. It's a neat thing, but hard to see as sustainable considering the limited capabilities of such a device providing engaging gaming content. But if it can be done, here's hoping for more Apple Watch games.
