MonolithSoft apparently hasn't been resting on their laurels for the past couple years. They just announced that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is in development for the Nintendo Switch, although no release window was specified. This isn't surprising considering Xenoblade Chronicles X was a massive game and took quite a few years to develop for Wii U, so I wouldn't expect Xenoblade Chronicles 2 to show up for at least a year or two.
That said...just look at this trailer. It looks like MonolithSoft is taking things back to the more fantasy, steampunk-influenced look of the first Xenoblade Chronicles for the sequel. I'm a little bummed we won't be running from alien dinosaurs on planet Mira again, but at the very least we have a gihugic RPG to look forward to on the Switch.
