Upcoming mystery game 'A Normal Lost Phone' promises to be anything but normal

More On: A Normal Lost Phone

It's a common fear, losing your phone. There's always that jolt of realization, followed by some panicked patting of your pockets before finally realizing that no, it's not going to magically appear in your hand. In developer Accidental Queens' upcoming narrative mystery game A Normal Lost Phone, you're on the other end of things; you're not the one who loses the phone, but the one who finds it.

In the game, you will need to search through the phone's data (messages, apps, and pictures, for example) to learn more about the phone's owner, Sam. Though it is similar to games such as Sara Is Missing in that it's formatted as a smartphone interface, Accidental Queens hopes to create a completely new product that features new mechanics while exploring topics from everyday life such as "coming of age, homophobia, depression and peer pressure."

A Normal Lost Phone releases on January 26 for iOS, Android, and Steam, and you can preorder it already for the latter. However, since the game itself is about, you know, a phone, the developers recommend that you play it on your smartphone. I just finished playing Sara Is Missing to get a sense of this type of game, and I can confirm that a mobile experience is much more immersive and enjoyable. I personally can't wait to see what Accidental Queens puts out as their final product.
