The Signal From Tolva is a science-fiction first-person open-world shooter, wrapped inside a mystery. Narrating the video is Jim Rossignol of Big Robot (Sir, You Are Being Hunted).
This is the first gameplay video for The Signal From Tolva, with plenty of real footage. There are massive set pieces, tag-and-frag firefights. I just coined "tag-and-frag," by the way, where you simply pull out your binoculars, tag enemies on patrol, and then engage.
There's a huge range of weapons, from assault to sniping. There's even a "gun" that gives allied robots some point-and-click directions to follow. The AI running allied and enemy units can also have them encounter one another out in the wild.
There's a big, chunky, concept art style to the environments, which is lovely. The lighting and shadows from the real-time sun moves smoothly, too; none of those shadows that have blocky movement, like the seconds hand on a clock. The combat looks like it packs a little punch, too. It's not Gears of War, but at least there's some kick to the guns.
The Signal From Tolva is coming to PC in early 2017.
