Steam is now requiring in-game screenshots

Say bye bye to pre-rendered art or misleading screenshots on official game pages in Steam. Valve is banning them from the store page, so hopefully what we see in those carousel shots will be a true representation of the game. Games in the Steam store using screenshots must be ones from the game itself.

This comes in wake of such high profile games like No Man's Sky putting up screenshots of features not even in the game. Even games great games do this like The Witcher 3 so it's not uncommon. Valve even cited their own DOTA2 as an entry which doesn't conform to the rule yet.

Hopefully, with change, all screenshots will finally match up to the offering that's presented. It's one small step in making sure consumers are seeing what they are purchasing, rather than something more than what's there in order to entice you to buy the game.
