I hope that you have been saving some pennies throughout the year because this week is a perfect example of just how devastating this release season can be on your wallet. There are a lot of huge releases launching this weekend choosing just one is nearly impossible.

On the game side of things, leading the charge is Gears of War 4. Microsoft is kicking off a new era for the franchise, picking up the story 25 years after the end of Gears 3. WE have a new cast of characters, along with appearances by some classic ones, as well as new enemies, new weapons, and a ton of new multiplayer options. Our review went up last week, and I personally found the game to be a blast. It reminds players of everything that made the game great in the first place while laying the groundwork for a new run of the series.

Wrestling fans can look forward of this year’s WWE release with WWE 2K17. 2K has been making great strides since they obtained the WWE license to mold the absolute best wrestling simulation possible. This year sees the largest roster that the franchise has every seen as well as the introduction of a promo system. This might be the year that I get all the tools I need to run the e-fed I have been planning for nearly a decade.

Of course, no October would be complete without a new Skylanders game. This year we are getting Skylanders Imaginators on all of the main platforms. The “catch” for this year’s entry in the toys-to-life series is the ability to create your own characters. You still have a variety of new figures and accessories available to collect, but you can also design and customize your own characters. If you become attached to one of your creations, you can even have an actual figure made of them (for a price). We will have our full review of the game later this week.
