Ubisoft have announced that a remastered and improved version of Rocksmith 2104 Edition will be available this fall. It will retail for €59.99 for new users while current owners will receive a free update via patch.

I picked up the 2014 Edition when it came out and I was pleasantly surprised. At the time I was playing as a musician in a band to pay for college and thought myself above the "beginners" level which I thought the game provided. Instead, I got to jam out to Iron Maidens - The Trooper, The Rolling Stones - Paint it Black and it even has Avenged Sevenfold - Bat Country. The game breaks down each song for the player. When I struggled to keep up and even when I didn't know the notes the game was aware of it. It slowed down certain bars of a song for me and even made suggestions on what techniques to practise based on whatever song I was playing. I would really recommend Rocksmith 2014 Edition to guitarists or bassists at any level. Begginers, intermediate, expert and professional players will all find something of value in the game. Its a genuinely fun to jam along to.

These songs will be available for purchase to new and current players once the patch is dropped:

  • Bob Marley & The Wailers “Three Little Birds”
  • Elvis Presley “Suspicious Minds”
  • FUN. “Some Nights”
  • Jackson 5 “I Want You Back”
  • Outkast “Hey Ya!”
  • Train “Drops of Jupiter”
