Nintendo Download for 8/25/2016: Mario, Street Fighter, and...well, mostly Street Fighter

This week's Nintendo Download offerings centers mostly Street Fighter with a little Mario thrown in.  To kick things off, Super Mario 64 DS is now available on the Wii U's Virtual Console.  Now you might be thinking to yourself why you would want this version instead of the N64 version.  The DS remake includes multiplayer modes and mini-games not found in the original N64 game, plus the ability to play as Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Yoshi.  In addition, there are 150 stars to collect as opposed to the original game's 120.  It was actually a pretty good remake of an N64 game for the original Nintendo DS.

Next up is Street Fighter and quite a bit of it as the 3DS Virtual Console gets three Super NES entries in the series: Street Fighter Alpha 2, Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, and Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting.  I have very little experience with the Alpha series only having played the original on the PSP when it was released on the PlayStation Network a while back.  Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting was the third and final release of the original Street Fighter II on the Super NES and featured the original eight characters as well as the ability to play as the four boss characters (Balrog, Vega, Sagat, and M. Bison).  As for Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, it introduced four characters that have since been featured in multiple games including Cammy, T-Hawk, Fei Long, and Dee Jay.

As for something a little less physical but a lot more verbal, the demo for Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Spirit of Justice is available for download.  The demo features a section from the game's first courtroom clash between Phoenix and his new advasary: Royal Priestess Rayfa.

Nintendo adds new games weekly to Nintendo eShop on the Wii U console and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, the Nintendo DSi™ Shop for the Nintendo DSi system and the Wii™ Shop Channel for the Wii console.

Nintendo eShop is a cash-based service that features a wide variety of content, including new and classic games, applications and demos. Users can add money to their account balances by using a credit card or purchasing a Nintendo eShop Card at a retail store and entering the code from the card.
