The NVIDIA Pascal architecture was released a few months ago with the powerful GeForce GTX 1080 and a GeForce GTX 1070 cards giving consumers incredible graphics with more power per watt than ever before. While the cards were hard to come by early on, they can be picked up now at a lot of places and gamers, especially those with VR headsets, are enjoying the fruits of NVIDIA's labors.
What about those with laptops? Well, NVIDIA has announced that the GeForce GTX 10 series will indeed be coming to the mobile space and you can expect laptops that are going to be VR capable to be available soon. The entire current line, and that means the GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070, and the GeForce GTX 1060 will be in laptops in the near future.

As with any gaming mobile setup, don't expect hours upon hours of gaming when running a high end PC game. Still, being able to run a lot of today's games and future games at max detail with great frame rates in a portable frame is a great option. On a personal level, I hope one of these GPUs appear in the next Surface Book.
If you do have a HTC Vive or Oculus Rift, yes you'll be able to play or demonstrate titles if your laptop has one of these GPUs. I'm willing to be a few people will try to strap one of these on their backs for a portable VR setup.
Look for a few companies to announce laptops with these GPUs very, very soon.
