Everyone needs to stop hunting Pokemon for a second and realize that there are other games launching this week too. You can track down your Pocket Monsters on your way to the store to pick up some of these titles.
The headliner this week has players hunting a completely different type of monster with Monster Hunter Generations on the 3DS. The latest entry in the popular series will bring a lot of changes to the experience, including new character classes and the addition of special moves, which should make it a little easier to take down the giant beasts. If you aren’t familiar with the game, it’s an extremely strategic action-RPG that has players going out on expeditions to take down a variety of prehistoric beasts. It’s can get incredibly intense and has a major learning curve, so be warned.
If you are looking for something a little more light hearted, you could always spend some time launching Kerbals into space. The popular PC game Kerbal Space Program is finally getting a console release this week. This is a physics based space sim where you have to design and launch, custom made spacecrafts into space, piloted by these small little Minion-like creatures called Kerbals. It isn’t anywhere as easy as it sounds, and you are going to spend a lot of time watching these little guys die on the launchpad as your creations fail in spectacular fashion.
There is also a Ghostbusters game being released that ties into the film launching this coming weekend. I don’t think the concept needs much of an introduction given the response and attention the new film has received lately. It’s a game based on a movie, which says a lot. It’s a game, based on a really bad movie, which might say a whole lot more.
