Injustice: Gods Among Us was one of the better fighting games and I've been itching for more. There was a leak of the poster yesterday, but we finally get the launch trailer today for Injustice 2.
There's no gameplay, just a bunch of heroes fighting each other in super cool armor. I'll be interested to see if this will take concepts from the comic that's been ongoing. And if you haven't read the comic, do yourself a favor and grab some of the collected issues to read. It really has some great writing.
For DLC, I hope Netherealms sticks with DC characters rather than something that's not in line with the comics. No characters from other franchises or genres, please.
I'm guessing we'll see the game in action during E3, but for now, check out the cool pre-rendered video.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have released the announce trailer for Injustice 2, the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us. Injustice 2 is the latest game developed by NetherRealm Studios, the studio behind the Mortal Kombat franchise, and will feature a large roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains and that players can “build and power up.” Injustice 2 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017.
“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios in a press release. “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”
“Expanding the DC Universe in games continues to be one of our top priorities, andInjustice 2 showcases amazing gameplay and an original story to bring the characters to life for players,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “NetherRealm Studios is offering fans an experience of customizing and battling with DC’s iconic characters in an entirely new way.”
In Injustice 2, players will be able to personalize DC’s characters with unique gear earned through gameplay, allowing them to customize how the characters “look, fight, and develop” through the game.
Injustice 2 continues the story of Injustice: Gods Among Us “as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk. Players can play from the biggest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game, from classic fan favorites such as Batman, Superman, Supergirl and Aquaman, to astonishing new villains like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd. Battles will take place across arenas that have evolved in scale and span across iconic locations such as Metropolis, Gotham City and Atlantis.”
If you can’t wait for Injustice 2, you can load up the Injustice: Gods Among Us mobile game to unlock the Injustice 2 versions of Superman and Aquaman through the in-game Challenge Modes.
