Disney made some pretty great figures with their Disney Infinity games, but after three versions, Disney is calling it quits.
From the financial reports, the series hasn't been selling that well. Skylanders, another toy based game, is taking some time off as the market seems to be saturated with these types of games and even the ever powerful IPs from Disney isn't good enough to generate the sales needed to keep the series going.
There are going to be two sets left before Infinity is done for. Alice Through the Looking Glass will be out this month and a set for Finding Dory will be out next month. Those two will be the final new content for Disney Infinity.
Disney is exiting the video game business and will close Avalanche Software as well with close to 300 jobs being lost in the shuttering. They will continue to license their games such as EA creating Star Wars games. Disney will also continue to publish mobile games.
