Steam VR Desktop Mode coming

One of the programs I really enjoy using with my Oculus DK2 is Virtual Desktop. Just like the title sounds, you can create a mirror of your computer desktop in virtual space and do things like work on a huge screen or watch some 3D movies on YouTube. Valve Software looks like they are going to into this area as well.

SteamVR Desktop Theater Mode is in early beta and will be shown at GDC next week. Valve says it will allow non-VR games to be playable on the HTC Vive, which should open up a ton of titles that aren't natively supported by the headset. I've actually used Virtual Desktop to play Diablo III and it works quite well. I'm anxious to see how Valve implements their version of this.

SteamVR Desktop Theater Mode is in early beta, and will be showcased at next week's Game Developer Conference in San Francisco. Desktop Theater Mode enables users to play non-VR games with VR systems such as the upcoming HTC VIve and others.
