Fugitive Games is nearly ready to take their space exploration strategy sim, Into the Stars, out of Steam Early Access. They're celebrating with a final 33% off sale before the final version of the game launches. It's $13.39 now but after the game releases on March 4th it will be $19.99.

Billed as a mixture of Oregon Trail, FTL and Mass Effect, Into the Stars challenges you to guide your band of space explorers across a hostile open-galaxy expanse as you manage disasters, the health of your crew and ship and avoid dangerous encounters, all on your quest to colonize a new planet. The game looks very promising but has mixed Early Access reviews on Steam.

Fugitive Games promises that they've taken fan criticism to heart and have polished and re-balanced the game for its final release. I just hope to God that it's less cruel than Tharsis.

Into the Stars is an open-world space survival simulation built in Unreal Engine 4 that has players take on the role of Captain as they explore a massive star system in search of a new home for humanity. With each journey, players will outfit their ships, hand pick their crew and set off on a voyage where they must scavenge resources, shelter civilians and outrun a hostile alien force in order to survive.
