One of my first appointments at the show was with the folks at Westinghouse. I went in to take a look at their new TV lineup as well as PC monitors. I was pleasantly surprised to see their new 4K smart models on display that can also double for the monitor for your PC.
The centerpiece was their Smart 4K UHD TV models, with the 75” model on display. These models range from 42” to 85” with 2160p Resolution, Netflix 4K Certified and Smart Functionality with Built-in Wi-Fi and compatible with Westinghouse’s Smart Phone Remote app. Some of the Apps (in addition to Netflix) are YouTube, Vudu, Pandora, Twitter, Facebook, Toon Goggles & Accu Weather. The 75”, 65” and 43” models were was on display and looked fantastic, expecially when you consider the price points of the models and what you get for it. This lineup holds true to Westinghouse striving to bring quality TVs to the home at an affordable price. Pricing starts at $399 for the 43” model and price points for the rest as follows: 50” at $499, 55” at $599, 65” at $999, 75” at $2,399 and 85” at $5,999. Models are now shipping to retailers, so keep an eye out for them popping up soon.
They also had a 55” curved Smart UHD TV on display that offers most of the same amenities of the flat versions. The big difference is the curved screen, which as a technology may not be the most practical for everyday use, but has a definite place in room specific home theater settings. MSRP hasn’t been announced yet, but initial sizes will include a 55”, 65” and a 75” options with a current Q4 216 release date.
The other new tech was the companies Quantum Dot technology TVs. They had the 55” model on the floor, which is a Smart 4K UHD TV that also shares the same amenities as the other model lineup. The picture, especially the colors were brilliant.
Westinghouse has a very good lineup of 2016 models coming out that fit right within the company’s philosophy. I wouldn’t hesitate to use any of these models in my home, and hope to have the opportunity to review one of the 4K models from a gamer perspective in the upcoming months.
