Publisher Gearbox Software and developer Blackbird Interactive have announced that Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak (previously known as Homeworld: Shipbreakers) will be available surprisingly soon on January 20 for Windows PC. The premise is as follows:
The planet is dying, but deep in the southern sands of Kharak, an anomaly has been discovered. Could Kharak’s salvation lie in the desert? Led by chief science officer Rachel S’jet, the Coalition of the Northern Kiithid sends an expedition deep within enemy-controlled territory to investigate the finding, which could forever seal the fate of humanity.
Players will be able to control both fleets of land and air vehicles across a variety of environments ranging from dune seas to massive craters. Other factors players will need to take into consideration include resource management, fleet composition, and technology research.
Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak is available for pre-order now on Steam, which includes a free copy of the Homeworld Remastered Collection. Existing owners of the Homeworld Remastered Collection will receive a 20% discount off the pre-order.
