For me at the moments, there are only two games coming out in 2016 that I am absolutely hyped for. The first is Persona 5 and the second is the next installment in the Danganronpa series. The first trailer dropped for the third visual novel game in the series and is called "New Danganronpa V3".
We don't know all of the characters in the game yet but we have been introduced to three of them. The first one, which people are assuming is the main protagonist of the game is some dude that looks like he is a mech or a robot. The male character shown looks like he is gonna be the "playboy" character of the group and my guess is that the female character could be the Kirigiri or Chiaki of the game in that she is the "detective" type character that helps guide you throughout the game. Or Spike could be trolling and they all die before chapter 1 ends. Anything is possible in these games.
Speaking of chapters, from a fan translation of the video, it appears that lying will be a new part added to the class trials. Does this mean we can frame people for murder? Considering how this is will be a new game with a new story, it will be interesting to see what other things may change when compared to the first two installments.
Also announced was a new anime debuting in 2016 called "Danganronpa 3: The end of Hope's Peak". Not much is known about this aside from the fact that it will end Hope's Peak saga from the first three games.
There has been some confusion about these two titles so here is apparently what's happening. Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak will finish the story that was set up from Danganronpa 1, 2 and Another Episode. New Danganronpa V3 will be a traditional visual novel game but will feature an entirely new cast, new location and a completely new story. It seems like the anime is going to wrap up the current story and this new game will start a completely new story from scratch. However, all of these games are filled with tons of twists and turns so we will really have to wait and see if New Danganronpa V3 will be related to previous entries or not.
We will find out next year as the anime and the game are set for a 2016 release in Japan. No word yet on when it will be released in the West. Hopefully we won't have to wait that long.
