The last week of September is here and the the releases are not showing any sign of slowing down. There is a new competitor in the “toys to life” genre as LEGO joins the fray. LEGO Dimensions launched yesterday and should be an instant contender amongst the genre’s brethren. The big selling point for this one is the strength of a variety of IP’s such as Simpsons, Portal, Scooby Doo, Ghostbusters, and DC Comics. There is a ton of potential there and it should make for an interesting Holiday Season.

LEGO isn’t the only game worth mentioning though. Basketball fans have both big franchises this week with NBA 2K and NBA Live. It will be interesting to see if NBA Live can make the improvements necessary to make it a competitor against the reigning king of video game basketball. Tony Hawk is also attempting to make a comeback with the release of THPS5. The series has been on the decline with the last couple of releases, which were quite a few years ago. Hopefully the new chapter can get the series back on track.
