Publisher Ubisoft and developer Signal Studios have announced that upcoming action strategy game Toy Soldiers: War Chest will be launching on August 11 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The gameplay combines action strategy management and tower defense elements that all take place on a digital tabletop board with clashing armies.
Most notable about War Chest is the optional inclusion of real franchise toy armies including G.I. Joe, Cobra Commander, and He-Man. Additionally, players can add the Ezio army which takes elements from the Assassin's Creed game series. Players that wish to have access to these real franchise armies can purchase the Hall of Fame edition that includes everything.
As a fan of the G.I. Joe and He-Man cartoons as a kid, I'm overly excited about being able to control my own digital armies of the franchises. While I would prefer that everything just be included in the game's standard edition, at least Ubisoft is giving players the option to just use the generic armies if they don't care for the licensed properties.
