Nintendo has teamed with Jakks Pacific before to create a pretty darn good line of merchandise, specifically action figures and plush of classic Nintendo characters. Now we're getting a new wave of huggable items: pixel art plushies of NES Mario, Luigi and Link. The whole set is a bit steep at $54 for all three, and though you can buy them individually for about $15 for Mario and Luigi, Link strangely goes for about 10 bucks more. These plush are scheduled for a mid-July release, and you can preorder them at Entertainment Earth, Big Bad Toy Store and Toy Wiz.
I think they're cute and all, but I've never been hugely nostalgic for the NES. The Super Nintendo and N64 are what I grew up with, so I hope they make a 16-bit Super Metroid Samus plush. She'd look great on my shelf next to my huggable Pain Elemental.
