Legends and transsexuals, Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown has it all

Shadowrun Chronicles: Boston Lockdown sees it's full release tomorrow, April 28th. To celebrate, Nordic Games has announced Legend Runs in the multiplayer hub. Every Friday at 6pm Eastern (3PM Pacific) a legend of the more than 2 decades of Shadowrun history will log in and give players an opportunity to chat in-game and, for the lucky few, even go on a multiplayer run. More than a dozen have already been scheduled, bringing in authors, artist and creators that span the formats and studios that have brought Shadowrun to life over the years. 

Jan Wagner, Managing Director of the latest entry into the Shadowrun verse, comments: "We are really happy to be able to use Chronicles as a game as well as a unique social Shadowrun experience. The fact that creators from all the corners of Shadowrun will be present in our game and that you actually can have the chance to go on a run with them is something we have been looking forward to since the game's concept stages. I think it also shows the great spirit of friendship and co-operation between the various companies, which is rare in this competitive environment."

The first run will feature Harebrained Schemes, the studio behind Shadowrun Returns and Shadowrun Dragonfall, co-founder Mitch Gitelman. 

In other Shadowrun news, the creators have commented on a feature of the character creation in Shadowrun Chronicles that generated a bit of buzz in the Early Access. There were no restrictions in the creator on matching hair and facial hair models with gender. So transsexual characters were fully create-able. Originally the feature was unintentional, just a byproduct of Early Access that would have been patched before release, but team at Nordic Games got behind the spirit of the feature: "The code for matching hair/beard options was initially gender neutral as it just applied any visual to any model. That made us think: Are we going to artificially create restrictions on how a character can be customized based on his or her gender? Being an Austrian company, we were inspired by resident performer Conchita Wurst, who had won the European Song Contest becoming a local celebrity and decided to embrace diversity. It isn't an explicit topic in the game, but within the Shadowrun setting, where body modifications are normal, gender should not be a limiting factor anymore." So there you have it.
