Blizzard has been working on an MMO called Titan for seven years. That's seven years, which is almost triple the time it takes for some AAA games to come out. Yeah, MMO's do take a lot longer to produce and seven years is a long, long time to be working on a single game.
Well, you can now add Titan to the list of cancelled Blizzard projects along with Starcraft: Ghost and Warcraft Adventures. In an interview with Polygon, CEO Mike Morhaime said they decided to pull the plug on the game.
The game was never really announced, but it was mentioned a lot. To cancel a game after seven years takes a lot of guts to do. At least they recognized that it was not working and rather try and force a product out there and recoup some of the cost, they decided to just move on.
It's not like Blizzard's hurting for money, of course with all the success of their previous games.
It does sound like they are taking a little break from MMOs. It's hard to follow up a success such as World of Warcraft and the company seems to really start to enjoy producing smaller projects such as Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm. While it's a little sad to hear a game get cancelled, it sounds like it's for the best in the long time interest of the company.
