The news part of this post is simple: EA has delayed NBA Live 15 back until the end of October. The release date will now be October 28. As for the rest, here comes the rant...
Wow, I can’t help but think “here we go again”. The past couple of years have been absolutely brutal on what was once the best NBA series in video games. Electronic Arts just can’t seem to get their footing now that NBA 2K has risen to prominence as the go-to NBA game for gamers. After the complete cluster that was NBA Elite 11 (being canceled a mere week before launch) and sitting out the 2012 season, the series came out to extremely critical reviews last year with its debut on both the PS4 and Xbox One. I completely understand that EA’s is officially stating that the delay is for “polish” purposes, but given the history of the NBA Live name this will not bode well in the public forums. What is it going to take for the Live name to actually mean something again and for the games to win back the gamers? I don’t know what it will take, but this delay certainly isn’t helping.
