Details are finally coming out about the anticipated return to the golf links for EA Sports. After a year off from the series that sees Tiger Woods dropped from the franchise's title, PGA Tour will be the official title of the revamped golf series. No one golfer will be the focus of the franchise anymore and allows EA Sports to use various golfers on the cover. There had been a push for this in the last few years, resulting in seeing legends on the cover and other golfers such as Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler.
The real push from this new franchise is the new engine, dubbed Frostbite 3. Executive Producer Brent Nielsen commenter on the engine by stating “Frostbite 3 is really the perfect piece of technology for us to use as we create EA SPORTS PGA TOUR. There is no better engine out there for creating complex, lifelike environments, and it has allowed us to recreate some of the world’s most beautiful courses, as well as create some new ideas of our own. Also, for the first time ever we’re offering a game that’s completely free of load times after you start your round, allowing you to move seamlessly from one green to the next tee without breaking immersion.”
We're excited to see what EA Sports brings to the table with the reboot of the franchise, but it will be while as launch won't be until Spring 2015.
