From Software announced yesterday that they were appointing a new president, none other than Souls series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. This appointment comes from From Software's new owners Kadokawa Corporation who recently purchased From. From's former president Naotoshi Jin will stay with the company in an advisory role. Hidetaka Miyazaki directed Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, and was involved in the development of Dark Souls II, all three of which were huge successes for From. Ever since stepping back from the Souls series Miyazaki has been working on a new game, which many speculate is a follow up to Demon's Souls. Hopefully we will find out at E3.
Miyazaki certainly deserves a promotion after creating one of the best new series in gaming, I just hope that Kadokawa knows what they are doing moving people around like this. Hopefully Miyazaki will still be able to create and direct games in his new position. I would hate to see such a massive talent stuck on the business side of game development.
