According to sources at Variety, YouTube has reached a deal with Twitch to acquire the game streaming company for $1 billion US dollars. Details are slim at the moment but this would give YouTube the market on game streaming market as well as the main repository of game trailers and How-To-Plays.
The deal values the game streamer at half of what Facebook paid for Oculus VR earlier this year which makes the deal seem like a steal as Twitch is the main/dominant player in an ever growing market while Oculus has yet to release a consumer product.
We'll update you when details of the story are made official or debunked by YouTube/Twitch.
