The folks at 3000AD Games have been hard at work on Line of Defense Tactics, a squad-based spinoff title from the upcoming MMO Line of Defense. They have some gameplay videos describing the basic controls and gameplay and so far I like what I'm seeing. The combat appears to focus on small group maneuvers in claustrophobic maps, requiring you to have your troops take cover, target specific enemies and scout ahead. It seems a lot more immediate and involved than most strategy games I've seen, which to me feel like little more than rows of toy soldiers marching toward each other.
