Created using 3D computer graphics imagery (CGI), “Pet Alien” is a comedy about a 12-year-old’s life and relationships seen through the eyes of five aliens, Dinko, Gumpers, Flip, Swanky and Scruffy, who take up residence with young Tommy Cadle. Realizing Tommy is a bit of an underdog, the aliens try to “help” him in every aspect of his complicated pre-adolescent Earth life and in the process, turn his existence inside out and upside down. Airing in over 50 countries, it is the first ever “squash and stretch” CGI animation for television series with a classic 2D cartoon aesthetic. Based on a property created by Jeff Muncy of John Doze Studios, the series is produced by Mike Young Productions, LLC, in conjunction with Moonscoop, Telegael, KI.KA, ARD and Europool in Germany.
“We’re excited to add Pet Alien, an out-of-this world property, to our gaming product line,” said Henrik Mathiasen, president for The Game Factory. “Just as we have done with other global properties we look forward to adapting the series’ signature style and humor into a multi-layered game that will entertain players of all ages.”
"The Game Factory is the perfect partner for an irreverent show like ‘Pet Alien’, explains Cynthia Money, President, Worldwide Consumer Products for Taffy Entertainment. “Their incredible creativity and sense of fun will translate into a video game that engages both fans of the show and gamers of all ages with exciting new worlds and interactions with Tommy and his alien friends.”
Developed by video game developer SHIN’EN all of the characters and levels will be built and animated in full 3D. Additionally, SHIN’EN will take advantage of their proprietary third-generation 3D Nintendo DSTM engine to include one-of-a-kind special effects and an eye-candy particle system. The game’s design will emphasize the TV series style and complement it with robot enemies inspired by 1960s-era science fiction entertainment and vintage robot toys.
Set completely within an enormous robotic spaceship, players will use the unique abilities of all five Pet Aliens to fight and puzzle through 50 levels and work together to rescue Tommy within non-violent gameplay. Taking full advantage of the 3D capabilities of the Nintendo DSTM system, Pet Alien features a tilted top-down view and will include five stylus-driven mini-games, an adventure mode and a bonus mode that contains an unlockable jukebox and photo gallery.
