The Summer of 2013 is looking to truly put an end to that long-running belief that there is a game drought during the hot months of the year! The year continues to roll with steady releases week after week with titles for gamers of all genres. If you haven't picked up something from the Steam Sale to keep you busy or have completed everything you have hauled in over the Summer, then perhaps something from this list will keep you busy.
Two titles warrant recommendation this week:
- Hot Shots Golf - World Invitational: In celebration of the hot shots series’ 15th anniversary, one of my favorite Vita games is getting the upgrade treatment as it gets ported to the PlayStation 3. World Invitational is one of the best installments in the “cartoony” golf series and it is bigger and better than ever. The new version, which will be available through the PSN, even includes full support for the PlayStation Move controller. Best of all, if you own the Vita version and any of its DLC, it is all available to the PS3 version via Cross buy support.
- Shadowrun Returns: From developer Jordan Weisman and Harebrained Studios, the classic cyberpunk fantasy Shadowrun is returning to its original form. Weisman begin working on the project back in 2007 but couldn’t do anything “official” for the franchise due to Microsoft holding the rights to Shadowrun. Thanks to a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign last year, Weismann and his crew acquired the money they needed for the rights and are ready to deliver a true-to-form Shadowrun experience. Launching this week on the PC but will head to the MAC, Linux, and tablet platforms at a later date. Set in Seattle and Berlin, Shadowrun Returns weaves a graphically rich 2D, turn based game with a deep story that ties in to the original games.
