More On: Guns of Icarus Online
It's difficult not to love steampunk and airships, both bring such wonderful memories to mind. Fortunately, Muse Games has released a trailer for their upcoming airship-warfare game, Guns of Icarus Online, that showcases a variety of recorded footage from its recently held closed beta. In Guns of Icarus Online, gamers join crews upon airships that battle the skies for supremacy. Roles available for gamers include captain, engineer, and gunner, with each requiring cooperation among team members to achieve victory.

In the span of their recent beta test from May 11 to 13, the number of matches totaled over 200 with around 7,000 airship parts crashing to the ground. The next round of beta testing will start on May 25. Visit the official Guns of Icarus Online website for further information.

May 17th, 2012 –  Muse Games’ first two weekends of the closed beta for Guns of Icarus Online (www.GunsOfIcarus.com) has come to an end and the support has been fantastic. Some of the staff members took videos of their games this past weekend and put together a fun example of what the game is like in its current state. This is early footage still and many things are being improved, balanced, and created! Take a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuTVu5sWPFI&hd=1

Welcome to Guns of Icarus Online, the first cooperative airship combat game mixing together first-person shooter action with team-based strategy. Up to four people will crew a ship, taking on one of three key roles—Captain, Gunner, and Engineer—to battle it out against other ships above the post-apocalyptic waste. In Guns of Icarus Online it will take teamwork and tactics to dominate the skies.

In the most recent beta test, covering Friday May 11th to Sunday May 13th, we had over 200 matches with over 7,000 ship components destroyed—over 8 components destroyed per ship—per match! The most popular ship was The Junker, whose 5 small guns give it extreme tactical flexibility that makes up for its lack of maneuverability.  The most popular gun was the Small Howitzer, whose long range and high damage make up for its low ammo count and limited firing arc.

The players agree that Guns of Icarus Online shows great promise and is fun even in its unfinished state. Kickstarter backer Remarus said, “I'm very glad to have tossed $50 towards making this game a reality. Keep up the excellent work!” @Dysiode tweeted, “Finally got to play @MuseGames's #GunsofIcarus and let me tell you, it's amazing even in it's rough state. Looking forward to more epicness.” And user KillerProject said, “"So far loving the game ^^ Grats guys ^^”

Muse Games would like to thank all of our Kickstarter backers and fans who have helped us with the first two rounds of testing.  We look forward to our next beta event starting on May 25th.
