Electronic Arts has
officially revealed its latest list of servers being unplugged from the networks of the world. The company has announced that it will shut off the online servers and online support for a variety of console titles on April 13, 2012. The games that will be going offline are:
-
BOOM BLOX Bash Party
-
Burnout Revenge
-
EA Create
-
EA Sports Active
-
EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp
-
FIFA 10
-
The Godfather II
-
MMA
-
Need for Speed: Pro Street
-
The Saboteur
-
Spare Parts
There are 2 titles on this list that I find particularly interesting: Create and MMA. Create is just a little over a year old, launching in November of 2010; the lifespan of some of these games seems to get shorter and shorter with each passing year. The other game, MMA, is just 1 month older and was the first EA game to feature the infamous online pass. I really help that nobody picked up MMA used in the past couple of weeks and shelled out the cash to play the game online, because you are about that have that feature pulled out from under you. Business is business though and if the traffic and support isn’t their to warrant continued support for these titles then EA cannot be expected to continuously fund their respective servers.
