MechWarrior reboot not dead, despite all indications that it was

I love giant fighting robot games.  I went through a phase earlier in my gaming life where I would buy any game that had a giant robot anywhere on the box.  However, that only brought me mediocre game after mediocre game until I discovered MechAssault for the original Xbox  (yes, PC MechWarrior purists say it and its sequel are abominations, but it was 2003 and I hadn't discovered just how silly online videogame rhetoric had become, so I didn't know or care what "The Internet" thought.).  The sequel that came out the next year wasn't as good, but still hit the spot.  Then everyone got caught up in the changing of the hardware generation and MechAssault disappeared even thought it should have been a perfect fit for next-gen consoles.

So, needless to say, 2009's announcement of a MechWarrior game more in line with the PC sims got me very excited, then development got tied up in court over copyright issues and I assumed that was the end of that.  Apparently, I was wrong.

According to Eurogamer, Piranha Games' MechWarrior reboot is just alive enough to warrant a cryptic screen shot released one fragment at a time via @InnerSphereNews.  The game still has no release date, or much in the way of any confirmed information.  But trust me when I say, I'll do my best to stay abreast of any further developments - I've been waiting for this game for years.  MechWarrior is set for release sometime in the future (hopefully before the 30th century timeframe of the MechWarrior franchise), allegedly for the PC and Xbox 360.  Let's just hope it's not two years between updates this time.
