Sony has announced a new initiative this week in the form of the PSP Remaster Series. Under this “program”, Sony will be bringing some of the best titles from its handheld catalog to the PlayStation 3, completely remastered in high definition. Not only are the games receiving a fresh coat of (HD) paint, but they will also be getting full stereoscopic 3D support as well.
The new line of games was announced to be launching in Japan first with the release of an HD version of Monster Hunter Portable 3RD under the new title Monster Hunter Portable HD. Better yet, the versions released on the PlayStation 3 will be able to share data with the original, portable versions, enabling gamers to share saved data between the two systems and even play online across both platforms. This announcement could lend some credence to the recent rumor of the God of War PSP titles coming to PlayStation 3 as early as this June or July.
You can expect a full North American announcement to come shortly and the full details to be announced at E3. In the mean time, enjoy your first look at Monster Hunter Portable HD below, courtesy of Andriasang.
