Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed that they have done away with 205 jobs and three studios in a cost cutting move. Denver, Seattle, and Tuscon had offices closed in the move.
Along with the closing of studios and removal of positions,
The Agency, spy themed MMO, has been canceled. That's too bad as it looked kind of neat when I saw it at a few conventions and certainly different than what is out there currently.
It also sounds like Sony Online Entertainment will start concentrating more on free to play games as they take less resources and time to create as well as being popular.
I certainly hope the folks who were let go find new opportunities quickly. Best of luck to those affected by the layoffs.
