Sony has announced two new peripherals for the PlayStation 3, at least in Japan. The corporate behemoth revealed a new, “candy blue” colored
Dualshock 3 controller and a Dualshock 3 Charging Stand.
The new controller is nothing more than a new, albeit pretty, paint job on the standard PS3 controller. The unit will sell for the standard price of a Dualshock 3 controller which is roughly $54.99. The other device is quite handy though and is a docking / charging station for up to two PS3 controllers. The Dualshock 3 Charging Stand features the chargind stand itself, a power chord, and two charging attachments which allow two controllers to be connected at any time. The charging attachments snap into the PS3 controller and can be left in during gameplay. The stand will retail for roughly $24.99.
While both devices have only been announced for Japan at the time being, it is very likely that they will be coming Stateside in the the near future. Japanese retailers will begin offering them both on April 21, 2011.
