Epic Games has announced that it will reveal the next generation of their
Unreal Engine 3 at the Game Developer’s Conference next week. The game will be shown to select developers and press behind doors at the event.
DC 2011 kicks off next Monday, February 28 in San Francisco. The new features of the engine should give us an idea of just where games will be graphically going in the future. The Unreal Engine is used by a wide variety of developers, powering many of the industries biggest titles including Gears of War, BioShock 2, Batman: Arkham Asylum, and Borderlands. The toolset behind the engine is also easily available for would-be game designers to use for their own projects at a reasonable price. The improvements to the Unreal Engine 3 shown next week could be the last we see before Epic reveals the Unreal Engine 4, which was previously estimated to launch in 2012.
